NaNoWriMo 2007

Is novel-writing conducive to girl-getting?

We'll see.

This November I'm going to write ANOTHER crappy novel.

The only real reason I'm doing this is because. Well. Because Jamie Ford got his book published. And I'm jealous. And I feel like I'm running out of time.

(I'm 20.) What a dumb way to feel.

Adam Holwerda Reporting

Hey, what's up?

I felt like I should do a news post since it's been almost a month. I find I have a love/hate relationship with Cartoon Violence, but that's OK. I'm happy it exists, but I hate that I don't do enough for it. But you don't care about all that, probably.

I lost my job at the UPS Store under some dubious conditions, so JGOTSPYS will have to end (not that it was particularly going strong or anything). I essentially had dinner with webcartoonist Ryan Estrada at his home in West Bloomfield a week ago, and we talked webcomics and creativity and getting fired. It was a fun day, and I got him to draw me (!!!) in my own copy of his 168 hour comic marathon, PED X-ING. It looks just like me. Only Ryan Estrada-y.

With JGOTSPYS ending, a new webcomic will have to make its debut. Only...WHICH ONE?!?! I'm thinking about it. I've decided it's going to be centered around a character, probably the character I had successfully made a webcomic about last year before my LAPTOP CRASHED AND I LOST ALL OF MY DATA AND WAS TOO FRUSTRATED TO CONTINUE CREATING SAID WEBCOMIC. The reason it all got lost was because I drew it all digitally. Yeah. That'll do it.

My father and I have decided that before our massive Graphic NOVEL project gets underway hardcore (and it's underway right now, it's just on the furthest of several back burners for both of us - which is understandable) that we're going to focus on creating a smaller, more compact and accessible book - of short vignettes and stories based on a selection of portraits. I think much of my income will come from this book in the coming year / two. There's already a fan base there, and I don't really care that I'd be riding my dad's "fame" at this point. The stories will be good and I'm sure many a publisher will see it and note talent. Hopefully.

That's all really for this post.

I AM DOING STAND-UP THIS YEAR. DON'T LET ME FORGET.
