Vimeo...Just...Go There...
I'm a long-time (ok, short-time) user of YouTube. I posted videos there for a while, that nobody watched, talked about things nobody cared about. All that kind of stuff. I hated YouTube because all of the people on it were prissy a$$holes, all of the good content got drowned out by sellouts of television shows and viral videos and Daily Show clips and stupid stuff like that. It's still useful for what it is, and what it is is a Junkyard for every video anyone ever makes.
Long story short - I hate YouTube. I've moved on to smaller but better things.
What things? Vimeo. Watch this clip, from Jakob Lodwick, creator of Vimeo.
Now, the first thing you'll notice is the video quality is great. A lot better than YouTube's. Also, there's no unnecessary "video player" module wrapping around. It's just the video.
I love Vimeo because YouTube sucks and because Vimeo is run by a lot of talented programmers and idea men. I even talked to some people on the staff, and they said a new version of the site is going to be launching very soon, with plenty of new features.
Here's a video I made for Vimeo. It's called Chalk...
Go there, get an account, start uploading videos - and get everyone you know to do the same thing. Because video networks with the people you love but can't be around a lot are really really cool.
